Some of the tables present national-level data, others feature State-level data. A number of States did not provide complete confirmation of deaths for 1999-2004 from infrequent and rare causes (see NVSR 49, No. 8, NVSR 50, No. 15, NVSR 52, No. 3, NVSR 53, No.5, and NVSR 54, No. 13 for details). A detailed description is provided for each table in the following categories: general mortality (solely demographic or includes cause of death), leading causes of death, life expectancy, linked birth/infant death data, and population. Historical tables are available for the period 1900-1998.
